The Mallett Performance Cars team was approached by professional drifting competitors/instructors Brian Phillips and Doug Van Den Brink, and Dale Earnhardt Jr’s marketing team to acquire and set-up two new 5th-gen Chevy Camaro SS’s for a drifting promotional photo shoot at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The drift event featured NASCAR drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Dale Earnhardt Jr trying their hands at drifting. Chuck Mallett ordered the cars directly from GM in Detroit, then the pair was shipped directly to our shop where our team prepped each vehicle. The team performed all the necessary calibrations to enable the Camaros to drift at speeds approaching 100mph at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In addition to the preparation, the Mallett team was responsible for transporting the drift-ready vehicles to and from the race track.
